Friday, 28th May, 2021
12-5pm, online
Keynote address"Researching in COVID-19 contexts" Professor Andrew Martin, Scientia Professor and Professor of Educational Psychology from UNSW.
Andrew is amongst the most highly published educational psychologists on the planet and has a wealth of experience to share on how to seize key opportunities (and avoid potential pitfalls) when doing educational research during COVID-19. |
A highlight of the day are the presentations by research students from across NSW, this year, online. This gives people from studying at any distance - across the city, or across the world - to participate, as presenters or as an audience. Presenters need to be currently enrolled in a NSW university. This could be you!
Details of the presentation: 20 min presentation with 5 slides (no more!) + 20 mins for discussion. |
Each year, this is awarded for an outstanding PhD thesis. Each university in NSW can nominate their most outstanding thesis (one only) for consideration of this award. The award will be announced at the Showcase. More here

A bit of healthy inter-university rivalry never goes astray!
We have a competition for research students to enter. The entries will be judged to award 'Best Applied HDR Research in NSW’, ‘Most Innovative Research in NSW’ and ‘The People’s Choice Awards’. Winners will receive mentoring from NSW IER to produce an article for submission for our journal, Issues in Education Research. We have a panel of judges including Sarah Hayes from the NSW DET Research Portfolio, Peter Holmes (school principal) & esteemed education academic, Alan Watson. Once videos are uploaded on the site, registered attendees will be invited to vote for the People's Choice. Winners will be announced on Showcase day. |
By the end of the day, you will be ready to sit back and enjoy some time with your old and new colleagues! Bring a crazy cup of your favourite beverage to the final Zoom event on conference day for an opportunity to connect socially with education research students from around NSW. There will be a novelty commendation for craziest cup and an opportunity for purposive networking (within research areas and maybe language groups) as well as the traditional conference socialising.
